Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) – Vanier CGS scholarship is offered to both Canadians and non-Canadians.

A total of 167 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships are offered on a yearly basis. Vanier CGS is worth $50,000 and is paid for three years. The host institutions are all Canadian Universities with Vanier CGS allocation.
To apply, a candidate must have been nominated by a Canadian institution with a quota of a program they want to pursue. Candidates are, however, not allowed to directly apply to the Vanier CGS program. The course starts in May/Sept 2019 and the deadline for the application is 31st October, 2024
Qualifications
- If on a full-time study or an equivalent, you need to have a first-class average from your institution. You can contact your school if you are not sure of the definition of a first-class average.
- You have to be nominated by one institution in Canada that has received a Vanier CGS quota.
- You should not have finished more than 20 months of doctoral studies as at 1st May, 2019.
- You have to be pursuing your first doctoral degree; a joint graduate or undergraduate research programs like an MD/ PhD., DVM/ PhD. or JD/ PhD. It is important to note that the sponsorship is only for the PhD. bit of a combined degree.
- Must not have ever had a doctorate level scholarship or fellowship from NSERC, SSHRC or CIHR to finish a doctoral degree.
