Over time, qualified teachers from all countries outside the UK will be able to gain QTS (Qualified Teachers Status) through a consistent set of criteria starting on 1st February 2024.

By doing so, non-UK teachers awarded QTS will be held to the same high standards, as well as increasing the opportunities for highly qualified teachers globally.

What are the requirements for applying on QTS Portal for UK Teacher Recruitment

You do not need a formal teacher training qualification to apply for assessment only QTS. However, you must have.
  • Teaching experience of at least two years
  • Bachelor’s degree from a UK or non-UK university
  • An English language qualification that is equivalent to a grade 4 GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education).
  • Children aged 3 to 11 in primary schools should receive a maths qualification equivalent to a grade 4 GCSE
  • A physics, chemistry, or biology (science) qualification equivalent to a grade 4 GCSE.
  • The Qualified Teachers Status (QTS) Assessment

The QTS portal allows eligible applicants to submit their application forms along with all required documents online after a successful assessment.
