Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) 2024 – All You Need to Know

The Korean government highly values education and has been working to improve the sector. This is why their universities have many scholarships and financial aid for international students.
Since 1967, the Korean government has been awarding scholarships and financial aid to over 6,556 international students from about 148 countries. This post is all about the Korean Government scholarships for international students in 2024.
The Korean Government Scholarship was renamed the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) in 2010.
Education Level Coverage
The level of education covered by this government financial aid is the Bachelor’s degree, Associate degree and postgraduate degree programs.
Eligible Courses
If your desired institution of study is the Regional University Track, you are only permitted to apply for courses that are available under the Natural Science, Technology, and Engineering faculties.
Some programs are not covered by this financial aid. Evening and night course programs, short-term, online, and distant learning programs are not covered by the Korean government scholarships 2024.
Eligible Nationality
All international students from all countries of the world are eligible for this government of South Korea undergraduate scholarship.
Also, note the following.
1. Interested applicants must be citizens of NIIED-designated countries that are invited to take part in the GKS program.
2. Interested applicants and their parents must not be a citizen of South Korea. If an applicant or his/her parent(s) hold dual citizenship (one who has Korean citizenship and citizenship of another country), such student is not eligible to apply.
3. Applicants and their parent(s) may be citizens of two or more different countries. The parent(s) may also be citizens of non-GKS participating countries.
4. Applicants and their parents who are no longer citizens of Korea must provide documents that prove their renunciation of Korean citizenship.

Requirements For The Fully Funded Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) 2024-24
- Interested applicants must be under 40 years of age
- An English proficiency letter can be submitted in place of IELTS and TOEFL
- You must have a Bachelor’s Degree to get a scholarship in Master’s.
- Master’s Degree to get admission to the PhD. Degree Program.
- Research Program Applicants: Should be Qualified enough at least a Master’s degree & have received an invitation from one of NIIED’s designated Korean universities.
- Postdoctoral Research Program: Must hold a doctoral degree or a level of education equivalent to a doctoral degree.
- Applicants who don’t have a yet degree can submit the Expected Graduation certificate in the application form.
