The Flemish Ministry of Education and Training is giving out financial aid and scholarships for master’s degree programmes in Flanders and Brussels. The selection process is based on merit only, and only outstanding students are chosen.
The government of Flanders Master Mind scholarships awards financial aid worth €8400 and a tuition fee waiver every academic year.
As a selected student, all you need to pay your school is the administrative enrolment fee. The financial aid will be given to the student, and it’s expected to be used for accommodation, insurance and living expenses. The scholarship prize money will be paid in instalments.
To apply for the government of Flanders Master Mind scholarships for international students, you have to apply at any of the Flemish host universities that participate in this financial aid program.

Education Level Coverage
The level of education covered by this financial aid is the master’s program. Kindly note that preparatory programmes, bridging programmes and distance learning are not covered by the government of Flanders Master Mind scholarships 2024/23.

All courses offered at the host Institutions are covered by this scholarship.
Eligible Nationality
All international students from all countries of the world are eligible for this government of Flanders Master Mind scholarship.
However, some scholarship slots are reserved for students from some specified countries. This include:
- 3 slots for Japan
- 3 slots for Mexico
- 2 slots for Palestine
- 5 slots for the United States of America
The countries are top priorities for the government of Flanders Master Mind scholarships. If a scholarship slot is not claimed, it will be awarded to the highest-ranked applicant ranked. The Flemish selection committee will be the judge of that.
Scholarship Value And Added Benefits
The Master Mind Scholarship will award a financial aid of €8,400 to selected applicants
Students will also enjoy a tuition fee waiver every academic year
Kindly note that:
- Students will still have to pay an administrative enrolment fee to their host institution
- Any of the flemish host Institutions can ask the applicant for a tuition fee, but it won’t be more than €115.80 per year (for 2024/23 academic session)
- The duration of mobility for a Master programme of 60 ECTS is one academic year
- The duration of mobility for a master programme of 120 ECTS is two academic years
Requirements For The Government of Flanders Master Mind Scholarships 2024/23
- Interested applicants must have applied for a master’s degree programme at one of the Flemish host Institutions
- The applicants must possess a high standard of academic performance
- Interested applicants should have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 out of 4.0
- Students must provide a proof of English proficiency. This can be the Common European Framework of Reference, IELTS and TOEFL tests. Other English language proficiency tests can can be taken if allowed by an applicant’s host institution
- The student must have been offered admission before this Flemish financial aid can be claimed
- The previous degree (bachelors degree or diploma) must have been obtained from a higher institution located outside Flanders
You are not eligible for the Government of Flanders Master Mind scholarships if you are already a beneficiary of a Flemish government or an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.
How To Apply For The Government of Flanders Master Mind Scholarships 2024/23
Follow the steps below to apply for this Flemish financial aid.
1. Confirm the requirements to see if you are eligible to apply.
2. Check if the Flemish institution of your choice is among the host Institutions of the Master Mind Scholarship.
3. Submit your application to your host institution.
4. Your host institution will begin the processing. Your file will be created with the Mobility-Online application tool.
5. An email will be sent to notify you of your preselection for the government of Flanders Master Mind scholarships.
6. Register through the Mobility-Online tool and complete your application file. This should be done before the scholarship closing date.
Deadline For The Government of Flanders Master Mind Scholarships 2024/23
The closing date for the Master Mind scholarships for international students is April 29, 2024. Any application submitted after this will not be considered.
