The Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme was created in October 2000 after Bill Gates and Melinda Gates donated a large sum of USD 210 Million to the University of Cambridge.
That was the largest single donation to a university in the United Kingdom. Every single year, the Gates Cambridge Scholarships offers c.80 full-cost scholarships to brilliant students from different countries outside the United Kingdom.
Selected applicants can have their full-time postgraduate degree in all courses available at the University of Cambridge.
66% of the scholarship awards will be given to students at the PhD level. 25 awards are available in the US round while 55 slots are available in the International round. Over 1,700 students from many countries of the world have benefited from this fully funded financial aid.
The Gates Cambridge Scholarships aims to build an international network of future leaders that have an interest in improving the lives of others.
To arrive at this goal, the scholarship board selects students that have high academic performance. The selected students will be offered both financial and non-financial aid at Cambridge.

Education Level Coverage
The level of education covered by this fully funded financial aid is the Masters and PhD degree program. It must also be a full-time programme.

You can apply for the Gates Cambridge Scholarships if you are a citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom.
Scholarship Value and Added Benefits
1. Generally, the Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge.
2. This fully funded financial aid also gives extra funding for buying textbooks, attending conferences, and conducting research experiments.
3. Academic development funding – from up to £500 to up to £2,000, dependent on the length of your course, to attend conferences and courses.
4. Family allowance – up to £10,120 for one child and up to £14,440 for two or more children (2021-22 rate). No funding is provided for a partner.
5. Fieldwork – you may apply to keep up to your normal maintenance allowance while on fieldwork as part of your PhD (the Trust does not fund other fieldwork costs as these should be funded by the University Composition Fee).
6. Maternity/Paternity funding – should you require it, you may apply to intermit your studies for up to 6 months and continue to receive your maintenance allowance during this time

Requirements for the Gates Cambridge Scholarships 2024 In Uk – Fully Funded
1. Interested applicants must be a citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom.
2. Students must be planning to pursue one of the following full-time residential courses of study at the University of Cambridge: PhD, MSc/MLitt One year postgraduate course.
3. Students that are currently studying at Cambridge, but want to apply for a new postgraduate course can also apply for the Gates Cambridge Scholarships 2024.

To be selected for the Gates Cambridge Scholarships 2024, you need to provide the following documents.
1. Copies of the undergraduate or graduate certificates
2. A copy of a valid passport for at least one year
3. Copies of all transcripts
4. Copies of your master certificates (for PhD students)
5. Your research proposal (if you are a PhD applicant)
6. Statement of intention
7. Your Curriculum Vitae
8. Letter of motivation. This letter should explain your reasons for applying for the Gates Cambridge Scholarships 2024
9. A minimum of two recommendation letters from at least two Professors from your previous institutions

The closing date for the Gates Cambridge fully funded Scholarships 2024/23 is October 13, 2024. Applications will be opened for consideration on September 1, 2024.
