The University of Leicester is giving out financial aid worth £9m to 100 PhD students. The Future 100 PhD Scholarships is aimed at developing the next generation of researchers that will become world-class champions in their respective fields.
Also, 25 scholarships will be disbursed among the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities. These colleges make up a total of 9 schools, namely:
- Archaeology and Ancient History
- Arts (encompassing English, History of Art and Film, and Modern Languages)
- Business
- Criminology
- Education; History, Politics and International Relations
- Law; Media
- Communication
- Sociology
- Museum Studies

This is a self-hosted scholarship. This means that the sponsor is also the host. The host university is The University of Leicester located in University Rd, Leicester LE1 7RH, the United Kingdom.

Not all the courses available at The University of Leicester is covered by this PhD scholarship. However, the courses under the faculties listed below are eligible:

Number Of Selected Applicants
This PhD financial aid being sponsored by the University of Leicester will select 100 PhD students for this scholarship.
Selection is based on merit and how the applicants meet the requirements.
Scholarship Value And Added Benefits
The University of Leicester Future 100 PhD Scholarships will provide funding for 3 years and 6 months. The breakdown is here below:
- Tuition fees at UK rate
- Stipend at UKRI rates (currently £15,609. 2024 rates to be confirmed)
- Access to a Research Training Support Grant of up to £1,500 pa for 3 years
Also, international applicants (applicants that are not UK citizens or residents) applying for courses listed on this page will have to be able to cover the amount gap between the UK and International fees during their period of studying.
- Full international fees will be £15,600 per year
- UK fees are yet to be fully agreed upon but are most likely to be between £4600 and £4700 every year
- International students would need to be able to pay fees of approximately £11,000 per year of study
- The exact fee will be advised at the point of offer
Criteria For Consideration
Interested applicants must to a Bachelor Degree of Second Class Upper 2:1 in the United Kingdom or a better foreign equivalent.
Interested applicants should also possess a Masters degree in a similar course.

Requirements For The University of Leicester Future 100 PhD Scholarships
Interested applicants are to get the following documents and submit them alongside the application.

- Personal statement explaining, briefly, your interest in the project and your relevant experience (If you apply for two projects include a statement for each project on the same document)
- Degree Certificates and Transcripts of study already completed and if possible transcript to date of study currently being undertaken
- Evidence of English language proficiency, if applicable

Interstate applicants can select more than 1 project course, but not more than 2.
In the Supervisor Section
Input the Project Reference for each project course you want to be considered for (the Project Reference is on the project listing above and on the project description document).
In the Project Title Section
Type in the Project Title for each project course in their order of priority (for example, follow this format: Project 1, Project 2).
In the Funding Section
Input “Future 100 Scholarship” or choose “Future 100 Scholarship” from the drop-down menu.

The closing date of The University of Leicester PhD financial aid is 11th March 2024.
Note that the PhD session that this scholarship is attached to will start on 26th September 2024.
